In perioada 22 - 24 mai 2009 s-au desfasurat in Bucuresti, la Rin Grand Hotel, lucrarile primei Conferinte Nationalea Mediatorilor organizata de Consiliul de Mediere din Romania.
Agenda conferintei a fost organizata in jurul a 9 axe tematice, in cadrul carora s-au inscris comunicarile invitatilor si workshop-urile prezentate de mediatori autorizati de Consiliul de Mediere.

Brief note on MIT Professor Lawrence Susskind, of the Program on Negotiation (PON) at Harvard and well-known worldwide expert on conflict resolution and principled negotiation.
Professor Susskind is one of the USA's most experienced public and environmental dispute mediators and a leading figure in the dispute resolution field. Professor Susskind is founder and for thirteen years President of the Consensus Building Institute (CBI), a not-for-profit organization that provides mediation and dispute system design services to public and private clients worldwide. Professor Susskind joined the faculty of the MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning in 1971. From 1982-1985, Professor Susskind served as the first Executive Director of the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School -- an inter-university consortium for the improvement of theory and practice in the field of dispute resolution.
Professor Susskindhas been the recipient of many awards:
Global Environmental Award (2007) was presented by the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) for outstanding, sustained and unique contribution to the field of environmental conflict.
ACSP Distinguished Educator Award (2005) is presented in acknowledgment of service and contribution to the field of planning.
Best Book in the Dispute Resolution field (2000) awarded by the Centre for Public Research for The Consensus Building Handbook (Sage Publications, 1999).
Best Book in the Dispute Resolution field (1997) awarded by the Center for Public Research for Dealing with an Angry Public (The Free Press, 1996).
